Man Charged After St Leonards Bookies Robbery

A 56-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a daring robbery at a Coral bookmakers in St Leonards.

Robbery at Battle Road Bookies

On Monday 2 January, just before 10:30am, a man stormed into the Coral bookmakers on Battle Road and demanded cash from staff. He escaped with a sum of money. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.

Suspect Linked to Second Theft

Sussex Police confirmed that Kenneth Brown, of Marline Road, St Leonards, faces one count of robbery. He is also charged with theft after allegedly stealing a purse from an elderly woman outside the Co-op store on 1 Road, St Leonards, back on 15 December 2022.

Court Appearances and Next Steps

Brown appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 9 January and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Monday 6 February for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
