Hailsham Man Found Guilty of Murder After Deadly Hit-and-Run

Horrific Crash Kills 24-Year-Old Jack Field

Kyle Dumble, 27, with no fixed address, has been convicted of murder after ploughing his car into a group in Hailsham, killing local man Jack Field, 24. The chilling verdict came down at Hove Trial Centre on Friday, 24 January.

Dumble was also found guilty of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and driving while disqualified and uninsured.

Deadly Incident on Western Road

The nightmare unfolded on the night of 18 November 2023. Emergency services rushed to Western Road, Hailsham at around 11pm after reports of a man being hit by a vehicle. Dumble, driving a black Mitsubishi Shogun, had already fled the scene.

Jack was found critically injured and later died from his wounds. Another man suffered serious bruising.

  • Witnesses saw Dumble revving his engine aggressively.
  • He mounted the pavement and drove directly into the group, repeatedly charging forwards and reversing into them before speeding off.
  • The victims were reportedly involved in an altercation with occupants of the Shogun.

Dumble surrendered to police 24 hours later and was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been held in custody since.

Family Mourns, Seeks Justice

“Jack was a loving son, brother and friend. He was the most selfless, respectful gentleman who would do anything for anyone… He has left a gaping hole which will never be filled but we will hold him in our hearts forever. “Although nothing can bring Jack back, we are pleased he has got the justice he deserves.”

Detective Brands the Act ‘Senseless’

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell called the incident “senseless” and praised the police team for their work:

“Kyle Dumble turned his car into a deadly weapon that night in November… This has been a complex investigation, and I would like to thank the investigative team for their hard work in bringing Dumble to justice.”

Dumble remains in custody and will be sentenced on Monday, 27 January.
