Man guilty of brutal murder in Whetstone flat horror
A 27-year-old has been convicted of murdering a woman in a chilling Whetstone flat attack.
Shannon Grant found guilty
Shannon Grant was found guilty of killing Natasha (surname not disclosed), after her family’s desperate calls went unanswered. Natasha’s mother and brother became worried and went to her flat on Loughland Close at around 8.40pm.
Family blocked from entering
They knocked on the communal front door, but a stranger appeared from Natasha’s first-floor window and refused them entry. Concern rising, they contacted the authorities.
Armed police arrest suspect
Armed officers arrested Grant at the scene on suspicion of murder. Officers found a sawn-off shotgun inside the flat—a weapon Grant later pleaded guilty to possessing before the murder trial. Personal items belonging to Natasha and clothing matching what Grant wore during the incident were discovered in a wheelie bin outside the flat.
Investigation highlights possible financial motive
Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh from East 123 unit hinted at a financial angle behind the murder, saying: “There was some type of financial element behind it.” He praised the investigation team: “The team has worked diligently in bringing this case to justice.”
