Teacher Jailed for Sex Crimes Against Teens After Name Change
Julius Edwards, 49, from Queens Road, Farnborough, has been convicted of shocking sexual offences against two teenage boys aged 13 and 14. The crimes took place between March and April 2020. Edwards later changed his name by deed poll to James Edward Ramsay but it couldn’t hide his dark past.
Massive Conviction: 19 Charges Against Ramsay
Ramsay pleaded guilty earlier to attempted sexual communication with a child. Today, he was found guilty of 18 more charges including:
- 11 counts of sexual activity with a child
- 1 count of assault by penetration
- 3 counts of attempted penetrative sexual activity with a child
- 2 counts of failure to comply with a notice to provide a key
In total, 19 serious offences have now been confirmed.
How the Dark Secret Was Uncovered
The disturbing offences surfaced during a police probe into another matter involving one victim. Concerns grew over grooming and further interviews unveiled Ramsay’s online abuse and boasts about other underage victims.
Investigators then tracked down a second victim, who also accused Ramsay of sexual abuse. Police were tipped off by the Metropolitan Police about Ramsay’s online predatory chats, where he targeted an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old boy.
Teacher at Dove House School, But Victims Not Pupils
Ramsay was working as a teacher at Dove House School in Basingstoke when he was arrested. Neither victim attended this school.
Detective Constable Mike Stanley blasted Ramsay as “a sexual predator with a dangerous interest in young teenage boys” and praised the victims for their courage.
“Ramsay is manipulative, seeking out children and hiding his crimes. This tough investigation shows we take all abuse allegations seriously and will fight for justice,” said DC Stanley.
