Man Jailed for Threatening Victim with Fake Gun in Peterborough

A 51-year-old man has been locked up for nearly two years after terrifying a victim by holding a fake gun to his head.

Fake Gun Held to Victim’s Head

Vytautas Kuisys was arrested on 27 September following reports that he had pointed a ‘gun’ at a man in Peterborough. The 69-year-old victim had opened his front door in the Gladstone Street area, expecting a takeaway delivery. Instead, he was confronted by Kuisys, a former friend of his partner.

On spotting Kuisys, the partner quickly retreated inside, angering him. In a shocking move, Kuisys pulled a fake gun from his pocket and pressed it against the man’s head. The victim shouted for his son, which scared Kuisys off. He fled the scene clutching the imitation firearm.

Police Track Down Suspect

Police swiftly found Kuisys nearby on Taverners Road. During questioning, Kuisys admitted to carrying the fake gun to intimidate the victim, hoping to break up the relationship with the victim’s partner. He claimed the couple’s partner was being exploited, which made him “angry.”

Kuisys pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court

On 4 December, Kuisys, from Mountbatten Way in Westwood, was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court.

“Regardless of whether the gun was an imitation or not, this could understandably put someone in fear for their life,” said DC Robin Gray.

“Kuisys’ irresponsible actions have impacted the victim and their family, and now he faces a criminal record and jail time.”
