Man Assaulted in London in Shocking Homophobic Attack
Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a 29-year-old man was attacked in a suspected homophobic hate crime in Denmark Hill, London. Police were called at around 3am on Sunday, 14 July, following reports of an assault near the junction with Camberwell Road, SE5.
Victim Suffers Head Injury But Is Out of Hospital
The victim sustained a head injury and was rushed to hospital. Luckily, doctors confirmed the injury was neither life-threatening nor life-changing. The man has since been discharged.
Suspect Arrested and Released Under Investigation
A 19-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He has now been released under investigation as police continue their inquiries.
Police Appeal for Help from Public
The attack is being treated as a homophobic hate crime after hateful comments were reportedly made before the assault. Detectives from Brixton’s Safeguarding Unit are investigating and urge anyone with information or footage to come forward.
