Thug Jailed for Two Years After Smashing Cop’s Jaw in Brutal Assault

Shock Attack Catches Officer Off Guard

Demitre Clarke-Oliver, 24, from Reading, has been locked up for two years after landing a savage punch that broke PC Raymond Tse’s jaw in Oxford. The shocking attack happened out of the blue on 1 October 2016. PC Tse was trying to detain Clarke-Oliver’s friend on Hythe Bridge Street after a public call for help when the cowardly blow struck.

The nasty punch left PC Tse with two fractured jawbones. He needed surgery, with plates and eight pins inserted to rebuild his face.

Police Slam ‘Despicable’ Attack, Praise Officer’s Bravery

“This was a cowardly act and assaults on police will not be tolerated,” said Detective Constable Neil Rudge from Oxford CID. “To attack a police officer is despicable.”

Despite being caught off guard, PC Tse stayed calm and professional. Even after such a serious injury, he helped arrest Clarke-Oliver before the thug made a run for it, said Superintendent Joe Kidman, Oxford’s Local Police Area Commander.

“Police face real dangers every day. Violence like this should never be accepted as part of the job,” warned Superintendent Kidman. “This tough sentence sends a clear message – assaults on officers will be met with severe consequences.”

PC Tse Speaks Out Following Sentence

“Violence against anyone is never acceptable. During the arrest, Clarke-Oliver suddenly struck me in the face, causing severe pain,” said PC Raymond Tse.

“He tried to run, but we caught him and ensured justice was done. I hope to get back on duty soon once I’ve recovered.”

Swift Justice After Vicious Assault

Clarke-Oliver admitted causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) at Oxford Magistrates’ Court. On 8 December, he was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court following a swift police investigation.

This brutal attack is a harsh reminder of the daily dangers police officers face protecting the public.
