Predatory Sex Offender Jailed for 10 Years in Sussex
James Wadhawan, 35, from Penalverne Crescent, Penzance, has been slammed with a 10-year prison sentence for sexually abusing a teenage girl in Lancing, West Sussex.
Abuse Uncovered After Child Abduction Warning
The shocking case came to light in January 2024 when police issued Wadhawan with a Child Abduction Warning Notice (CAWN). This was prompted by reports he made inappropriate contact with his victim, a girl aged between 13 and 15.
‘Predatory Offender’ Locked Up
On 9 March, Wadhawan was convicted and handed a decade behind bars. The Crown stated: “James Wadhawan is a predatory offender who targeted a young girl for his own vile gratification.”
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to the victim and her family for their bravery and unwavering commitment throughout the investigation, which played a vital role in putting a dangerous man behind bars.”
Police Praise Investigation Team, Urge Public to Speak Out
Detective Chief Inspector Fallahi praised Investigator Sophie Williams for her dogged work on the case. Sussex Police reiterated their commitment to rooting out exploitation and urged anyone affected by sexual offences to come forward.
