Man jailed for stabbing partner over 60 times in horrific Clapham attack
Brutal murder shocks Clapham community
Mark Alexander, 29, has been sentenced to 15 years for killing his partner, Azaria Williams, in their SW9 home. The sentence was handed down at the Old Bailey on Friday, 27 May.
Alexander admitted manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility after the savage attack.
Victim stabbed 63 times in savage rampage
Police were called to a property on Clapham Road at 9.10pm on 27 December 2020 after a neighbour heard terrifying screams.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service found 26-year-old Azaria had been stabbed 63 times, with multiple slash wounds. She tragically died at the scene despite desperate emergency attempts to save her.
Killer’s lies exposed by CCTV and forensic evidence
Alexander claimed another man was responsible, blaming an alleged affair. But CCTV footage showed the couple together just 30 minutes before the murder.
Two bloodied knives discovered at the scene bore Alexander’s DNA, shattering his story.
Detectives arrested and charged Alexander after a thorough investigation by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
Detective Sergeant Jason Crinnion said: “This was a vicious act of violence on a defenceless woman who had the rest of her life ahead of her. My thoughts remain with her family and friends as they come to terms with her death.
“We are committed to making London safer for women and girls. Our investigation has ensured a dangerous man will no longer threaten others.”
