Dagenham Monster Locked Up for 25 Years

Oladip Oshodi, 48, from Dagenham, has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for a string of brutal crimes. His charges include rape, administering a noxious substance, threats to kill, grievous bodily harm, and controlling coercive behaviour. The harsh verdict came down at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Horrific Attack Sparks Arrest

Oshodi was arrested on July 12, 2023, after a detailed probe by the Metropolitan Police’s East Area Public Protection Unit. The charges stem from a terrifying night at his Mayesbrook home on July 11, 2023. The victim, a woman known to Oshodi, was raped twice despite refusing. She also suffered vicious physical assaults before making a desperate escape by leaping from a ground-floor window onto the street.

Passersby quickly called police, who rushed to assist and protect the shaken victim.

Survivor Receives Specialist Care

The brave woman was given immediate medical treatment and ongoing emotional support from specialist officers. Detective Constable Serena McGhee condemned Oshodi:

“Oshodi is a dangerous man, and it is right that he will now serve a long sentence in a place where he will not pose a threat to women. I commend the bravery of the victim and the witnesses in this case.”

Support for Survivors Urged

PC Kayleigh Grafton, a specialist with victims of sexual offences, appealed to other survivors:

“The survivor in this case was fleeing for her life when she jumped onto the street to escape this man. I hope that the sentence handed down encourages other women who have been victims of sexual offences to seek help. We are here to support you every step of the way.”

This case sends a strong warning: predators will face the full force of the law, and survivors will not be silenced.
