Paedophile Paul Farrell Jailed for Life After 35 Years of Child Abuse
Paul Farrell, 55, has been slammed with a life sentence at Wood Green Crown Court, with a minimum of 18 years behind bars. The Camden resident pleaded guilty to a shocking 77 sexual offences against children spanning 35 years.
Horrific Crimes Spanning Decades
Farrell’s crimes date from 1985 to 2020. He abused eight victims aged between five and 15, often while staying as a lodger or babysitter in their family homes across London. Farrell used his trusted position to gain access and hide in plain sight.
Among the charges were indecent assault, attempted rape, and possession of indecent images of children, including the most severe category A offences. He even lured some victims to his workplace – a central London hospital where he worked as a porter – to commit abuse.
Police Investigation Uncovers More Victims
The nightmare started unraveling in November 2019 when abuse allegations from the 1980s surfaced. Officers seized multiple devices from Farrell’s home, uncovering disturbing indecent images and texts. This evidence revealed six more victims, with Farrell committing abuse even while on bail in 2020.

“The survivors who have come forward have shown incredible bravery and I hope now that Farrell’s guilty pleas and lengthy sentence can offer them some closure after years of suffering in silence,” said Det Sgt Jules Manock, who led the investigation.
Detective Superintendent Courcha added: “Farrell was extremely calculating and devious, abusing children while lodgers stayed under their families’ noses. Some victims waited over 30 years to come forward. We urge any other victims to contact police immediately.”
