Man Charged After 85-Year-Old Woman Dies in Ilford
Mark Herman, 54, from Rushden Gardens, Ilford, was charged on Saturday, 10 April. He was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 April.
Police Called to Grim Scene
Officers and London Ambulance paramedics rushed to Rushden Gardens at 10:51am on Friday, 9 April. They found an 85-year-old woman unconscious and not breathing.
Despite frantic efforts from emergency crews, she was sadly pronounced dead just before midday.
Cause of Death Confirmed
The post-mortem revealed the woman died from compression to the neck. Detectives are confident the victim is Loretta Herman, although formal identification is still pending.
Her family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers during this tragic time.
