Yorkshire Man Jailed for 13 Years Over £40k Cocaine Plot
A Yorkshire man has been locked up for more than 13 years after being caught in a major cocaine conspiracy worth over £40,000.
Ermal Biba Caught in Sleek Police Sting
Ermal Biba, 42, of Harrogate, was sentenced today at Leeds Crown Court. The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit (YH ROCU) cracked down on his cocaine operation supplying the Harrogate area.
Police uncovered Biba’s role in moving Class A cocaine all the way from London to North Yorkshire.
Key Drug Haul Seized on A1 Near Doncaster
- Officers stopped a suspicious vehicle on the A1 near Doncaster.
- A search revealed 1 kilo of cocaine valued at £40,000.
- Further raids on Harrogate properties found more cocaine plus £8,700 in cash.
‘Significant Sentence’ Sends Strong Message
Detective Chief Inspector Al Burns of YH ROCU said: “I’m pleased the court handed down a significant sentence for Biba’s role in this major Class A drug operation in Harrogate. It shows those who get involved face long jail terms. Drugs cause real harm and misery across Yorkshire.”
Biba pled guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine between June 2019 and May 2022. He was sentenced to 13 years and six months behind bars.
The investigation forms part of a wider crackdown by North Yorkshire Police into drugs conspiracy.
