Daniel Balazs Found Guilty of Barnsley Murder

Daniel Balazs, 21, has been convicted of murdering 28-year-old dad Daniel Micska in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The shocking stabbing happened on August 9, 2023, when Balazs plunged a knife into Micska’s chest on Newton Street.

Deadly Confrontation Sparked by Jealousy

Jurors heard how the deadly clash began after Balazs whistled and called over a group of men. Things quickly spiralled out of control, ending in the tragic death of Hungarian-born Micska. Prosecutor David Brooke revealed Balazs had just learnt his ex-girlfriend – with whom he shared a child – was seeing Micska.

Despite trying to keep the affair under wraps, the news got out and riled Balazs. Police were told Balazs claimed self-defence, insisting he was on his way to visit his parents when the fight broke out.

Fugitive Fleeing Justice

After the fatal stabbing, Balazs fled to London, hoping to dodge the law. But he later handed himself in, facing the music for his brutal attack.

Detective Condemns ‘Horrific Attack’

Detective Inspector Matt Bolger slammed Balazs’s “horrific attack” that cost Micska his life. He added Balazs’s escape was “an attempt to evade justice,” making the trauma worse for the victim’s loved ones.

The guilty verdict finally offers some closure for Micska’s family and friends, though their heartbreak remains raw. At least they can rest knowing justice has been done.
