Steroid-Making Gunman Jailed After BB Gun Attack
Shock BB Gun Assault in Romney Marsh
A man who fired a BB gun at another during a tense stand-off has been locked up. James Richardson, 32, took aim at a victim near Brookland, Kent, then sped off in a white Mercedes. The victim narrowly escaped serious injury after a ball bearing hit his hand while shielding his face.
Police Crack Down on Home-Made Steroids
Kent Police swooped two days later, arresting Richardson at his Dymchurch home. Officers found a stash of ingredients for anabolic steroid production and a small amount of cannabis. A photo of a BB gun matching the weapon used was also discovered on his phone. Richardson had injuries consistent with the violent encounter.
Swift Justice Delivered at Canterbury Crown Court
On 27 October 2023, Richardson pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, involvement in producing a Class C drug, and cannabis possession. He was sentenced to two and a half years behind bars.
“This sudden and unexpected attack with an imitation handgun would have been shocking for the victim,” said Detective Constable Adele Couchman. “Thanks to the victim noting the car details, we tracked Richardson quickly and got him off the streets of Romney Marsh. Anyone suspecting steroid production in their area should report it immediately.”
