Gang Get Sentenced Over Shocking 2021 Cheadle Firearms Attack
Manchester Crown Square Court has wrapped up the trial of five defendants linked to a terrifying firearms incident at a Cheadle shop in Stockport back in 2021. Shots were fired inside the store, sparking an intense investigation into conspiracy charges relating to possession and use of firearms.
Key Players Handed Heavy Jail Terms
- Jacob Richards copped eight years behind bars with an extra four years on license. The court branded him “dangerous” after convicting him of firearms offences, arson with intent, and assault.
- Remico Embrack was locked up for six and a half years for firing a gun and arson.
- Amira Kacou got two years for conspiracy to possess firearms.
- A 21-year-old man served five years for firing a weapon but has now been released.
- Xavier Edwards received a suspended sentence for conspiracy to possess firearms.
How The Attack Unfolded
The court heard how Richards, Embrack, and the 21-year-old stormed the Cheadle shop on June 20, 2021, around 5:40pm. They fired shots at the shop owner and customers. Thankfully, the owner hit an alarm that filled the shop with smoke and alerted police.
Outside, a delivery driver heard gunfire and saw the trio flee — one even firing at his vehicle.
Manhunt and Arrest
Richards was quickly identified and arrested two days later on June 22, 2021. Greater Manchester Police’s Tactical Firearms Unit tracked him down at a hideout, uncovering cash, a handgun, a Glock-style pistol, ammo, and cannabis during the raid.
The extensive investigation, codenamed “Operation Empirical,” was led by Stockport CID. Detective Chief Inspector Ian Wrench praised the team’s hard work, saying: “We have secured these results and brought these violent criminals to justice. Their actions caused real fear in the community.”
DCI Wrench issued a blunt warning to criminals: “If you break the law in Greater Manchester, we will find, arrest, and charge you. Firearms have no place in Stockport.”
