A massive blaze ripped through an industrial unit in Walsall, igniting two giant drums of cooking oil and sending thick black smoke spiralling into the sky. Firefighters launched a massive emergency response to tackle the fiery chaos.
Dozens of Firefighters Race to Walsall Inferno
West Midlands Fire Service scrambled to Newfield Close just before 7.20pm on Sunday, 14 December. At the height of the drama, 13 fire engines and two hydraulic aerial platforms battled the raging cooking oil fire.
- Fire crews flooded in from Bloxwich, Walsall, Aldridge, Willenhall, Wednesbury, West Bromwich, Tipton, Bilston, Tettenhall, Dudley, Fallings Park, Highgate, Handsworth, and Woodgate Valley.
- The first teams arrived on scene within minutes of the emergency call.
Fearless Firefighters Attack Flames Head-On
Armed with breathing apparatus, firefighters charged straight into the blaze. Hydraulic platforms lifted crews to douse the fire from above. Drones buzzed overhead, pinpointing hotspots to strike flames with deadly accuracy.
Firefighters Gain Control – No Injuries
By 8am on Monday, 15 December, firefighters had wrestled control of the inferno. Most engines were withdrawn, with just two teams remaining to tackle stubborn embers inside the building.
