Gun Crime Gang Nabbed After Massive Ammo Haul Bust

Six suspects have been convicted following the seizure of over 3,000 rounds of ammunition and illegal firearms in a major police swoop.

London Firearms Plot Uncovered

At Croydon Crown Court on 13 March, 28-year-old Lorenzo Brooks from Catford was found guilty of conspiring to sell banned weapons and possession of firearm parts. This follows last year’s convictions of Sian Miller, 25, Lukas Duncan, 22, and Mishak Wright-Martin, 33, all found guilty of conspiring to sell ammunition.

Two others, Manfred Kurz, 61, and Sierra Denton, 21, had already pleaded guilty to firearms and drug offences respectively. All six face sentencing at Croydon Crown Court on 3 April.

How The Illegal Ammo Trade Unraveled

The whole case started with Manfred Kurz, a former German soldier and licensed shooter, who moved to the UK in 2004. Using his German firearms licence, Kurz imported huge quantities of ammunition illegally.

His niece, Sian Miller, saw a payday and began illegally selling the ammo through a network of contacts. Police acting on a tip-off raided Miller’s home on 5 February 2018, discovering 1,800 rounds, two pistols, five prohibited sprays, and bullet-making equipment.

Officers immediately raided Kurz’s address, uncovering 20kg of black explosive powder, bullets, and more gun parts.

Police Crack Down on Criminal Firearms Network

  • More than 3,100 rounds seized across multiple raids
  • Illegal sprays and an ounce of heroin also discovered
  • Connections between Brooks, Duncan, and Miller led to further arrests

Detectives swooped again at Sierra Denton’s home in April 2018, leading to yet more ammunition being seized and the arrest of her boyfriend, Mishak Wright-Martin. The intricate network of illegal arms dealers was dismantled through swift and thorough detective work.

Officer Praises Life-Saving Operation

“This is one of the Met’s biggest ever ammunition and explosive substance seizures,” said Detective Constable Martin Reader of the Trident unit. “This firepower in the hands of gangs is terrifying. Thanks to rapid police action, these weapons never hit the streets. Lives have been saved, and dangerous criminals brought to justice.”
