Last month, officers cracked down hard, arresting 233 motorists for drink-driving offences. To set an example, those convicted and disqualified are being publicly named, aiming to put the frighteners on anyone thinking of getting behind the wheel drunk.

Shocking Drink-Drive Cases
- Brighton Nurse Caught: A 53-year-old nurse from Brighton was found with 59mcg alcohol per 100ml of breath—well over the 35mcg legal limit. He refused to provide a breath sample later in custody. At Brighton Magistrates’ Court, he admitted the offence and was banned for a year, fined £450 plus costs and surcharges.
- Pub Goer Crashes at Old Broyle Road: Adam Gower tested positive with 66mcg alcohol per 100ml after colliding with another vehicle. He got a 20-month driving ban and fined £1,164 at Worthing Magistrates’ Court.
- Speed Demon Overtakes Police Car: Harry Yeo, 24, was caught zooming at 70mph in a 50mph zone in Fontwell with a glazed look, later testing positive for 87mcg alcohol. He admitted drink-driving and was disqualified for 17 months and fined £370.
- Nightclub Decision Ends in Crash: Ben Quigley, 23, admitted to making a “foolish” choice to drive after spending all his money out, testing positive for 90mcg alcohol. After crashing into a hedge on the A27 at Tangmere, he faced fines, costs, and a driving ban at Worthing Magistrates’ Court.
