More Than Just Seatbelts: Speeding, Phone Use, and Drink-Driving Nabbed
That’s not all – police also slapped fines on 100 other offenders for speeding, using mobile phones at the wheel, and drink-driving during the same operation.
Inspector Issues Stark Warning: Buckle Up Every Trip
“Whilst the vast majority of road users appreciate the importance of wearing seatbelts, there are unfortunately still a number who are putting their lives at risk,” said Inspector Thomas Pooley of Kent’s Roads Policing Unit.
“Some think short or familiar trips are safe without a belt – but you’re twice as likely to die if you don’t wear one during a crash.
“It’s especially worrying when drivers neglect securing young passengers. It’s not only irresponsible but puts children in serious danger.”
Inspector Pooley confirmed the Roads Policing Unit will continue fresh operations like this to keep Kent’s roads safe for all.
