Southampton Dealer Banged Up for Peddling Crack and Heroin
Owen Catton, 29, from Bridge Road, Southampton, was slapped with a three-year jail sentence yesterday at Southampton Crown Court. He pled guilty to running a line selling Class A drugs — crack cocaine and heroin.
Police Crack Down on Active Drug Network
On August 4, Southampton’s Proactive team, backed by the High Harm squad and local Neighbourhood officers, raided two properties in Montserrat Road, Basingstoke, and Bridge Road, Southampton. Their mission? To nail a key player in a local drug ring.
Catton was identified as the “line holder” responsible for sending marketing messages to push the deadly drugs. Officers seized his mobile phone, which was used to hawk the illegal wares.
Hard-Hitting Warning from Police
Detective Sergeant Russ Smith said: “This is a great result that has taken a drug dealer off our streets and helped to protect people from drug related harm.”
“There is an undeniable link between drugs and violence, and that is why disrupting drugs supply networks is a crucial part of our work.”
“We are committed and doing everything we can to tackle drugs and associated crime in our city and keep our communities safe.”
“I hope this sentence acts as a warning to anyone considering becoming involved in the supply of drugs in our city — it will not be tolerated.”
Spot Something? Speak Up
If you suspect drug activity near you, don’t keep quiet. The police urge everyone to report any info — no matter how small. It all helps build a stronger case to bring dealers like Catton to justice and make communities safer.
