Gedling Police Crack Down on Dangerous Driving and Antisocial Behaviour
Police in Gedling borough have launched a blitz on dangerous driving after listening to local concerns, especially around the Colwick Industrial Estate. Officers have stepped up patrols, stopped 30 vehicles, handed out 22 words of advice, issued five warnings, and seized four cars since October began.
Driving Offenders Targeted with Tough Action
Inspector Mark Stanley, Gedling’s District Commander, said: “My teams are targeting individuals whose antisocial behaviour is causing alarm or distress and is having a detrimental impact on the lives of others.”
He added: “We won’t tolerate lawbreakers. We’re educating those behind the wheel about the consequences, but we’ll enforce the law without hesitation to keep people safe.”
New Policing Priorities Tackle ‘Fatal Four’ and Drug Supply
The crackdown comes as police roll out a fresh set of priorities for Gedling. Aside from antisocial driving, officers will focus on the notorious ‘fatal four’ offences: not wearing seatbelts, drink driving, speeding, and using mobile phones while driving.
Inspector Stanley revealed: “During December, our annual drink-drive campaign will be in full swing. We’re also tackling illegal drug supply, which has a serious impact on our community.”
He explained that police will work to build intelligence, target drug hotspots, prosecute offenders, and divert addicts to support services.
Community Urged to Report Dangerous Driving and Crime
The police boss urged locals to keep reporting incidents and concerns. “We work closely with partners and act on information to make our streets safer,” said Inspector Stanley.
