Tragic Toddler Death: Mum to Face Manslaughter Charges
Verphy Kudi, 18, currently homeless, is set to appear in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 19 October. She faces charges over the manslaughter of her 20-month-old daughter Asiah.
Heartbreaking Case in Brighton
The toddler was rushed by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton on Wednesday 11 December 2019 from their home on Islingword Road. Sadly, Asiah was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital.
Cause of Death Linked to Neglect
Following a postmortem and further forensic tests, it was concluded Asiah’s death resulted from neglect. The prosecution, backed by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), comes after a thorough investigation by Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team detectives.
