Kent Police Crack Down on Drug Drivers in Week-Long Blitz
From Monday 23rd to Sunday 29th August 2021, Kent Police will be hitting the roads hard in a no-nonsense campaign to catch drug drivers. Armed with intelligence, officers will target hot spots across the county, snaring motorists impaired by illegal substances.
Round-the-Clock Checks and Arrests
Police will carry out roadside drug wipes and field impairment tests day and night. Their mission? To stop reckless drivers in their tracks, arrest them, and push for tough court action. Drug driving is one of the infamous Fatal 4 causes behind serious crashes and injuries on UK roads.
Road Safety Bosses Issue Stark Warnings
Chief Inspector Elena Hall from Kent Police’s Roads Policing Unit warned: “The impact of drug driving can be devastating. Drivers are not only risking their own lives but also those of passengers and innocent road users.”
“If caught drug driving, you face prison, an unlimited fine, and a driving ban. There’s absolutely no excuse.”
Councils Back the Crackdown
Kent County Council’s David Brazier urged drivers to think before they get behind the wheel under the influence. “Being high or impaired can cause blurred vision, erratic behaviour, hallucinations, and worse. It’s vital you stay aware and prepared on our roads.”
Meanwhile, Medway Council’s Phil Filmer added: “Drug driving is not just illegal, it’s massively dangerous. It ruins lives and must stop. We urge everyone to drive responsibly and help keep our roads safe.”
Expect more swifter arrests and tough penalties as Kent cracks down on drug drivers this August.
