Kent Police Crack Down on Drunk Drivers: 12 Arrests in Just Three Days
Kent Police swooped between Friday 18 March and Sunday 20 March 2022, arresting 12 drivers caught behind the wheel under the influence across Ashford, Canterbury, Thanet, and the M20 motorway.
Shocking Alerts: Drunk and Drugged Drivers Busted
- A 38-year-old Ramsgate man was caught dozing at the wheel in a Broadstairs drive-through car park early Saturday morning.
- A 29-year-old woman from Canterbury was arrested after a crash in Pin Hill, suspected of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
Both suspects were released pending further investigations.

- Michael Moore, 33, Ramsgate – charged with drink driving (18 March), Margate Magistrates’ Court 12 April.
- Steven Webster, 52, Ramsgate – charged with drink driving (19 March), Margate Magistrates’ Court 12 April.
- James Harrington, 39, Margate – charged with drink driving (20 March), Margate Magistrates’ Court 19 April.
- Danny Garforth, 37, Margate – charged with drink driving (19 March), Margate Magistrates’ Court 7 April.
- Jake Fox, 30, Herne Bay – charged with drink driving (20 March), Margate Magistrates’ Court 12 April.
- Michelle Burton, 43, Ashford – charged with drink driving (18 March), Folkestone Magistrates’ Court 8 April.
- Scott Darby, 45, Herne Bay – charged with drink driving on the M20 near Folkestone (19 March), Folkestone Magistrates’ Court 20 April.
Warning from Police: Drink and Drug Driving ‘Could Cost You Dearly’
PC Dave Sansum, Kent Police’s Drink and Drug Driver Liaison Officer for east Kent, said: “Patrols are equipped with devices to test for alcohol and drugs and will routinely stop and check drivers as part of our commitment to keep road users safe.”
“In just three days, we arrested 12 people caught driving under the influence. It’s deeply concerning. Remember, your actions have serious consequences.”
