Medway Police Crackdown Targets Crime and Disorder in Rochester and Strood
A major enforcement blitz hit Rochester and Strood on Friday, 24 January 2025, as police joined forces with Medway Council’s Community Safety and Street Scene Team to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour.
Arrests, Fines and E-Scooter Seizures
- Two arrests made for theft and assault.
- One person detained on a court warrant.
- Seven e-scooter riders stopped, given warnings, and had scooters seized.
- Two fines slapped on individuals breaching a Public Space Protection Order, including a man caught drinking where it’s banned.
- Four motorists hauled in for traffic offences like driving without a licence and no insurance.
Officers also conducted foot patrols, vehicle stops, and visits to pubs and clubs to enforce licensing laws and address community concerns.
‘We’ll Keep Up the Pressure’ – Police Promise More Action
“We have completed another of our regular enforcement days in an effort to tackle the small minority of people who persist in acting in an antisocial or disorderly manner,” said Police Sergeant Chris Watson from the Medway Community Safety Unit.
“Working with our partners, we used a range of tactics — including advice, vehicle seizures, summons reports, and arrests when needed. These days of action will continue over the coming months.”
Medway Authorities Pledge Ongoing Community Safety Drive
This multi-agency operation shows Medway Council and police are committed to stamping out antisocial behaviour and keeping the streets safe for residents and businesses alike.
Authorities urge locals to report trouble spots to help target future crackdowns and keep Medway a safer place.
