Desperate 999 Call Uncovers Horrific Crime
In the early hours of February 28, a frantic 999 call from a family member alerted police to a terrifying scene at a home on Jubilee Road, Perivale. Officers arrived to find Nica at the property and arrested him immediately. Ana Maria was found critically injured with stab wounds. Despite police and paramedics’ desperate efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Life Sentence Delivered at Southwark Crown Court
Nica was charged with murder on March 1 and convicted on September 16 at Southwark Crown Court. Today’s life sentence includes a minimum term of 21 years. Detective Inspector Richard Kempshall, who led the investigation, described Ana Maria as “a victim of appalling domestic violence.” He also praised the “remarkable bravery and strength” of the couple’s four children throughout the ordeal.
“We hope today’s sentence offers a meaningful step towards their healing,” said DI Kempshall. “Thanks to the police officers who detained Nica and tried to save Ana Maria’s life — their courage was outstanding.”
