A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a deadly house fire in West Malling. Kent Police rushed to Spitfire Way at 9pm on Saturday, 17 November 2018.

Emergency teams from Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the blaze. Two people were taken to hospital, including a woman in her 60s who sadly later died.

A child was also treated for a leg injury and smoke inhalation.

Man Held After Fatal West Malling Blaze

The arrested man, 51, is from West Malling and is currently in police custody. Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have launched a full investigation into the troubling incident.

Public Appeal for Information

Police urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting reference 17-1809. Because of previous police contact with the suspect, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified and a mandatory referral made.
