Police Release New Image of Dangerous Rapist Joseph McCann
Detectives have issued a fresh image of Joseph McCann, 34, as they hunt the violent criminal linked to three shocking rapes and abductions. DCI Katherine Goodwin, leading the probe, made a desperate public appeal for help to track him down.
“We are investigating three horrific incidents of rape and abduction against women. We urge anyone with information to contact us immediately,” said DCI Goodwin.
McCann’s Shocking Crime Spree Across London & Hertfordshire
- McCann is wanted by the Met Police for two offences and Hertfordshire Police for a third.
- He is muscular, around 5ft 10ins tall, with blue eyes and a bald or shaved blond head.
- Identifying feature: A tattoo of the name ‘Bobbie’ on his stomach.
- His crime spree began with an abduction in Chingford early on Thursday, 25 April.
- Only 12 hours later, he snatched another woman in Edgware at 12.15am.
- Both victims were taken to a Watford hotel where McCann tried to book a room before driving them off.
- The women made a daring escape around 2.30pm during a struggle at Osborne Road, Watford.
- A third attack in Watford on 21 April is under joint investigation by the Met and Herts Police.
Police Hunt Two Cars with Fake Plates Linked to McCann
Authorities are especially keen to trace a silver or grey Ford S-Max people carrier and a blue Ford Mondeo. Both vehicles were spotted carrying false registration plates during the attacks.
Detectives believe McCann is being sheltered by someone who knows him. Whether out of fear or loyalty, police urge anyone hiding him to come forward anonymously.
“If you are protecting him, please consider the terror he’s caused to women and children. Your silence puts others at risk,” warned DCI Goodwin.
