PC Booted Without Warning After DUI Guilty Plea
A police officer has been swiftly sacked following a shocking guilty plea for drink-driving. PC Daniel Leighton, from the West Area Basic Command Unit, faced a public misconduct hearing on Tuesday, 18 May over ‘discreditable conduct’ allegations.
Drink-Drive Blunder in NW10
Back on 11 October 2020, PC Leighton was stopped driving in NW10 and blew well over the legal alcohol limit. He admitted to drink-driving at court on 16 November 2020.
Harsh Penalty Follows Misconduct Hearing
- Given a conditional discharge
- Banned from driving for 12 months
- Dismissed without notice by Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball
The accelerated misconduct hearing ruled the officer’s actions breached professional standards. PC Leighton’s quick exit sends a clear message – no tolerance for officers breaking the law.
