On Monday, January 9, 2023, at around 3.30pm, the 15-year-old was approached by unknown males who demanded his phone. The youth was assaulted during the incident, suffering a cut to his face.

Thanks to a detailed description from the victim and swift action by local patrols and CCTV teams, police identified and arrested a suspect shortly after in the town centre. The 15-year-old Rochester resident faces charges of attempted robbery.
