Shock in Southampton: Police probe hit-and-run as attempted murder after van targets cyclists

Harrowing Crash on Waterloo Road

Just before 9.50pm on Friday, 17 July, chaos erupted on Waterloo Road, Southampton. A man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s were hit by a white Citroen Berlingo van while cycling. The van immediately sped off, leaving the victims injured and shocked.

The woman’s injuries were thankfully not life-threatening, but things took a grim turn for the man. His condition has worsened, and he remains in critical condition in hospital. Police now treat the incident as attempted murder.

Detectives want to speak to the driver of a second van, possibly a Fiat Scudo, who stopped at the scene shortly after the crash. Officers believe this driver holds crucial information that could break the case wide open.
