Ram Killed in Suspected Dog Attack on Shadoxhurst Farm

A ram was found dead after it was believed to have been mauled by a dog in a field behind Chequers Green, Shadoxhurst. The grisly discovery was made on the afternoon of Saturday, 18 December 2021.

The rest of the flock in the field appeared distressed but thankfully were uninjured.

Kent Police Warn Dog Owners to Keep Pets on Leads

PC Paul Williams from Kent Police’s Rural Task Force highlighted the seriousness of the attack. He said: “There are financial implications for the farmer following the loss of a ram, but this incident is also concerning as at this time of year sheep are pregnant and any stress can cause them to miscarry.”

He urged dog walkers to keep control of their pets, especially near livestock: “We remind owners to keep dogs on leads and under control when walking through fields in case livestock are present.”
