Hero Cops Rescue Woman Trapped by Rising Tide in Thorpe Bay
A woman’s life was saved after she got stuck in the rising waters on the shore of Thorpe Bay in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Quick-Thinking Officers Race Against Time
Just after 12.15am on 5 July, emergency services received a desperate call from the woman, who said the tide was swallowing her up. The water level quickly climbed from her hips to her neck and head as the floodwaters surged in.
Response officers arrived within minutes, teaming up with the coastguard in a tense search. Their efforts paid off around 12.45am when they found her and hauled her to safety.
Grim Ordeal Ends in Survival
Officers immediately administered first aid. Thankfully, the woman regained consciousness and started breathing on her own before medics took over and rushed her to hospital for treatment.
“Actions Led to a Woman’s Life Being Saved”
Detective Superintendent Shaun Kane praised the heroic rescue: “The actions, quick thinking and teamwork from all involved in this almost tragic incident was superb and I have no doubt this has led to a woman’s life being saved.
“We often talk about how we see our role as to help people and keep them safe; the actions of those involved early this morning show that we waste no time in putting this into practice.
“This incident could have turned out so tragically differently were it not for the officers’ drive and determination to help someone in need.”
Det Supt Kane also revealed the ordeal took its toll on one brave officer, who suffered a dislocated finger during the rescue but has since received treatment. “I am very proud of this team this morning and would like to thank everyone involved in this search and rescue,” he added.
