Two Ohio Women Charged After Bizarre Scheme Using Dead Housemate’s Body to Withdraw Cash
In a chilling Ohio tale, two women are facing serious charges after using their deceased roommate’s body in a twisted cash grab.
Body Found, Not Reported – Used to Fake Withdrawals
Loreen Feralo, 55, and Karen Kasbohm, 63, shared a home with 80-year-old Douglas Layman in Ashtabula, a small town by Lake Erie. When Layman died, instead of calling the authorities, the pair took his corpse and placed it in the front seat of his car.
They then drove to a local bank and, using their familiarity with the joint account, attempted to withdraw money from Layman’s account – with his dead body sitting right beside them.
Familiar Faces at the Bank Turned Scheme to Their Advantage
Loreen and Karen had previously withdrawn money alongside Layman, making the bank staff accustomed to seeing the trio together. This familiarity helped them carry out their grim con at the drive-through teller.
Real Life Mirrors ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ Plot
The bizarre incident sounds straight out of the 1989 black comedy Weekend at Bernie’s, where two colleagues pretend their deceased boss is still alive to avoid suspicion. But in this real-life case, the women have confessed to their grim plot and now face charges related to corpse abuse.
The chilling episode has rocked the quiet Ohio town and left locals stunned.
