Drug Gang Boss Hit with Fresh Gang Injunction in Thurrock
Roland Douherty, the notorious leader of the C17 gang, has been slapped with a new interim gang injunction at Chelmsford County Court. The 20-year-old drug dealer from Dalston remains under tight restrictions after his gang’s violent reign plagued Thurrock for years.
C17 Gang’s Crime Spree Plagued Thurrock
Douherty and ten gang members first faced tough injunctions back in 2017. Essex Police’s West Operation Raptor team, Thurrock Borough Council, and local communities joined forces to curb their drug dealing, violence, and anti-social behaviour across Grays town centre, town park, beach areas, and Lakeside.
The court heard how the gang targeted kids, forcing them to run drugs, carry cash, and even knives. The original injunction banned gang members from huge swathes of Thurrock, stopped them associating with each other, and prohibited violent ‘drill’ music videos that fuel gang rivalry.
Douherty Banned from Key Thurrock Hotspots
Under the latest order, Douherty must stay away from:
- Grays Town Park, Town Centre, and Lakeside Shopping Centre
- Chafford Hundred, Grays Railway Station, Seabrook Rise, Beach Riverside Park, and Dilkes Park
- Broxburn Parade & Derwent Parade in South Ockendon
- Associating with listed gang members in public or on social media
- Making or featuring in videos that promote violence or crime
He’s also banned from carrying knives, firearms, drugs, or more than £100 cash. Douherty must surrender mobile phones and SIM cards to police on request. Running from officers or defying these rules risks fines, jail, and asset seizures.
Police Vow to Keep Fighting Thurrock Gangs
“Douherty has failed to learn his lesson,” said PC Jonathan Kemp of West Operation Raptor. “While many gang members have moved on or turned their lives around, he remains a threat. We’ll keep working with partners and the community to stop gang crime for good.”
The full gang injunction hearing will be scheduled soon.
