Orpington Man Charged After Brutal Dartford Car Robberies
Masked Gang Terrorises Dartford and Rochester
A terrifying crime spree has rocked Dartford and Rochester this September, as masked thugs violently attacked victims before stealing their cars. The first assault happened on the evening of Wednesday, September 4, when a motorist stopped at Dartford Heath. Armed with face masks and aggression, the gang smashed the victim’s car window, beat him, and fled with his vehicle.
Just days later, on Sunday, September 8, another motorist was attacked near Rochester Way in a nearly identical fashion, with masked men stealing his car after a violent assault.
Suspect Nabbed With Stolen Vehicle and Key
Police swiftly moved in, arresting 28-year-old Thomas Ripley from Star Lane, Orpington, on Friday, September 13. Officers recovered a stolen vehicle and car key linked to the robberies. Ripley now faces two counts of robbery tied to the Dartford and Rochester incidents.
Additional Charges and Court Appearance
But the charges don’t stop there. Ripley also faces an attempted burglary charge related to a break-in on August 21 at a property in Colt Stead, New Ash Green.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court the day after his arrest and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 11, at Maidstone Crown Court.
Police Investigate, Call For Witnesses
The investigation continues, with officers urging anyone with information about the violent robberies and related crimes to come forward. Police are determined to crack down on this violent crime wave and bring all involved to justice.
