Kent Police Clamp Down on Dangerous Drivers in Thanet

Kent Police launched a major road safety blitz on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, stopping over 50 vehicles across Thanet. The operation uncovered a string of offences and saw three drivers caught speeding.

Roadside Checks Reveal Shocking Violations

  • 50 vehicles pulled over as officers reminded drivers about safe and responsible motoring.
  • 13 drivers reported for offences including defective tyres, dodgy number plates, no insurance, seatbelt breaches, and illegal window tints.
  • 3 speeding drivers nailed during the crackdown.

Drug-Drive Arrest in Cliftonville

A 36-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after being stopped on Princess Margaret Avenue. He’s now out on bail pending further inquiries.

Festive Season Warning from Police

Local Inspector Jim Woodward stressed the dangers of impaired driving during the festive rush:

“More traffic operations are planned over the holidays. Don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking – you could still be over the limit the morning after. Use public transport or grab a lift.”

“Keep your vehicle roadworthy by regularly checking tyres, lights, and brakes. Always carry the correct documents. Remember, everyone must do their bit to keep our roads safe this season.”
