Two Men Jailed After Dramatic Birmingham Firearms Bust
Two men have been locked up after police seized a shotgun during a tense operation in Birmingham. The pair were caught red-handed holding a gun outside a home before making a desperate dash – but cops were one step ahead.
High-Speed Police Chase Ends with Shotgun Seizure
On 21 February, Adnan Haider and Dayyaan Mahmood were spotted sitting in a car outside a Raymond Road address in Birmingham, reportedly armed with a firearm. West Midlands Police were called to the scene, with the National Police Air Service (NPAS) scrambling a helicopter to track the suspects.
Following a thorough search and an aerial tail, officers stopped the vehicle as the suspects tried to flee. Haider and Mahmood tossed several items out of the car before being arrested.
Shotgun and Weapons Found After Failed Escape
Police, assisted by NPAS and PD Wez, retrieved the discarded items. Among them were mobile phones, cash, car keys, and most importantly, a shotgun. The discovery added weight to the charges against the two men.
Sentenced: Two Men Behind Bars for Firearms Offences
- Dayyaan Mahmood, 19, from Dereham Close, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and a knife. He was sentenced to five years in jail on 10 October.
- Adnan Haider, 21, from Nansen Road, initially denied the charges but was found guilty after a week-long trial. His convictions include possession of a firearm and a knife, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. Haider received a seven-year prison sentence.
West Midlands Police confirm both men are now serving time, sending a clear message to anyone considering carrying weapons on the streets.
