Massive Crowd Flouts Covid Rules at Sydenham Industrial Park
Hundreds of revellers threw caution to the wind as they packed into a South East London warehouse for an illegal rave in the early hours of Sunday morning. Maskless and crammed shoulder to shoulder, partygoers danced for hours to a live DJ, completely ignoring strict social distancing measures still in place.
Police Raid Following Complaints from Railway Workers
Officers from Bromley, Croydon, and Lewisham response units, along with dog handlers and Specialist TSG, swarmed the Sydenham Industrial Park site on Kangley Bridge Road after railway workers heard loud music during track maintenance nearby. The raid took place at around 2.30am.
Chaos on the Tracks as Partygoers Flee
In a shocking turn, 18 people had to be removed from railway tracks after power was cut off to prevent further danger. Some attempted to evade police, while others were so worse for wear they needed support and medical attention. Paramedics from London Ambulance treated several attendees, and notably, a 14-year-old girl was reunited with her worried parents.
Riot Officers Shut Down the Party – No Arrests Yet
Six police carriers packed with riot and public order officers shut off the sound system and ordered everyone to leave. While no arrests have been made, inquiries into who organised the event are ongoing. The Met Police have been approached for comment.
