Man Charged With Murder of Missing Teen Marc Williams

Police have charged a man with the murder of 18-year-old Marc Williams, who vanished from Uckfield last Sunday (30 May).

Last Contact Made on Saturday Night

Marc was last seen in the Maresfield area on Saturday evening (29 May). He phoned his family around 11.30pm to say he was heading home – but never arrived.

Body Found in Woodland

Search teams discovered a body late Tuesday night (1 June) in woodland near Heron’s Ghyll. Although formal ID is pending, the remains are sadly believed to be Marc’s.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Lewis Ashdown, 19, from Normansland, Fairwarp, Uckfield, was arrested in Eastbourne on Tuesday (1 June). He was charged with murder early Thursday (3 June) and remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the same day.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Vickers said: “Our thoughts remain with Marc’s family at this difficult time. His family are being supported by specially trained officers, and we ask that their privacy is respected.”
