Domino’s Overload as Border Force Orders Hundreds of Pizzas to Feed Channel Migrants

Hundreds of Domino’s pizzas flooded the Dover branch after an urgent Home Office request to feed migrants arriving via the Channel. Staff were swamped and forced to call in other stores to cope. Border Force vans were seen collecting stacks of pizza boxes littering the holding area, a shocked employee revealed.

Home Office Splashes Nearly £10,000 on Domino’s in One Night

New government spending records reveal the Home Office dropped over £6,700 on Domino’s in a single month to feed migrants held at Tug Haven, Dover’s short-term processing centre. Five procurement card transactions over £500 were logged by UK Immigration Enforcement, with the biggest single order hitting £1,824.

  • Orders were placed as migrants, some held for over 12 hours, awaited transfer amid overcrowding and resource shortages.
  • A separate bill showed an order for 200 pizzas after a long delay in feeding newcomers arriving by small boats.
  • Last night’s totals reportedly neared £10,000 as the Border Force declared the processing of 1,000 people a critical incident, drafting in staff from as far as Liverpool.

Food Waste and Chaos at Tug Haven

Despite the massive pizza haul, some of the takeaway went uneaten and was thrown on the floor. Witnesses say the scene felt more like a pizza party than an emergency response. One lorry driver nearby described laughter and joking among Border Force staff enjoying the feast late into the night.

Tug Haven has faced criticism before. Inspectors last year slammed the site as a “rubble-strewn building site,” where migrants often arrive soaked, cold, and forced to wait for hours outside or in cramped containers.

Peter Clarke, then chief inspector of prisons, said: “Just because numbers are unprecedented, that does not mean they are unpredictable, or cannot be planned for.” He slammed the facility as unfit even for small-scale arrivals.

Home Office Defends Spending

A Home Office spokesperson said: “We are committed to delivering the best value for money for the British taxpayer. We ensure all spending is carefully scrutinised to make sure every pound of taxpayers’ money is spent in the most effective way.”

But as Domino’s boxes pile high, questions remain about conditions and management at Dover’s migrant centres—and why pizza has become the emergency meal of choice.
