Margate House Shut Down Over County Lines Drug Fears

Kent Police have slammed the shutters on a Margate home suspected of being a hub for county lines drug dealing. The property on Invicta Road is now off limits after a court-approved closure order.

Closure Order Issued After Police Crackdown

The Thanet Community Safety Unit secured the closure at Margate Magistrates’ Court, with the order coming into effect on 6 May 2021. Under the Anti-social Behaviour and Policing Act 2014, the house will remain closed for three months.

Only the landlord is allowed access during this period, and anyone else risking arrest if caught entering.

Neighbours’ Nightmare: Drugs, Noise & Vandalism

Police were flooded with complaints about the house. Locals reported:

  • Drug use on site
  • Drug deals over the back garden fence
  • Constant comings and goings day and night
  • Littering and noise from motorbikes and scooters
  • Criminal damage to nearby properties

In March 2021, officers arrested two London men, aged 18 and 19, at the property linked to county lines activity. Class A drug wraps, phones, and a knife were seized. The pair were released pending investigation.

Inspector Warns: Residents Shouldn’t Live in Fear

“This premises had been the epicentre of drug-related anti-social behaviour, with reports of drug dealers working from the back garden to peddle drugs over the fence,” said Inspector Paul Robson.

“It was having a detrimental effect on neighbouring properties. Residents shouldn’t have to live in fear or anxiety about illegal activity on their doorstep.

“We are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour. If anyone faces a similar issue, they should contact Kent Police. Your information could help us shut down dealers and protect your community.”
