Teenager Brutally Attacked Outside Arnold Shop

A 13-year-old boy suffered a split lip and bruised eye after being punched and kicked outside a shop on Front Street, Arnold. The shocking attack took place around 5.15pm on Tuesday, 21 March 2023.

Series of Violent Incidents Rock Arnold

Just over an hour later, at 6.50pm, a 14-year-old was assaulted by a gang of youths on Redhill Road, Arnold. Police also received reports of a car being vandalised on Calverton Road that same evening.

The violence began the previous day as well. At around 7.10pm on Monday, a 16-year-old was threatened with a knife by teenagers in St Mary’s Park, Arnold, before having his bag stolen. Another 13-year-old was also injured during this incident.

Four Teens Arrested in Connection with Spate of Attacks

Following thorough investigations and reviewing CCTV footage, officers arrested four suspects on Thursday, 23 March. They include:

  • A 15-year-old boy, held on suspicion of robbery, grievous bodily harm without intent, affray, possession of a knife in public, and criminal damage.
  • A 13-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm, affray, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage.
  • Another 13-year-old boy, detained on suspicion of affray.
  • A 16-year-old girl, arrested over affray and criminal damage.

All four suspects have been interviewed and released on conditional bail while investigations continue.

Police Issue Warning Over Social Media Speculation

“Violent disorder of this nature will not be tolerated,” said Inspector Mark Stanley, District Commander for Gedling. “We always do everything to investigate swiftly and catch those responsible.”

“As this is an ongoing investigation, I urge the public not to speculate or share the names of young people on social media. Even innocent posts can disrupt our inquiries and cause distress.”

“If you witnessed anything or have info, please come forward and report directly to the police.”
