The assailants grabbed a cash box filled with money and sprinted off into the early morning gloom.

Police Plea for Witnesses

“Fortunately, the G4S staff member was not seriously assaulted but this was more luck than judgement,” said Detective Constable Jonathan Hyland.

“Security staff serving the public need to be able to do their jobs without fear of assaults.”

“We’re appealing to anyone in the area at the time to come forward. Somebody knows what was going on at 1am and can help us catch these offenders.”
