Ramsgate Crime Crackdown Nets Four Arrests
Kent Police teamed up with partner agencies for a four-day blitz targeting crime hotspots in Ramsgate. The crackdown, running through October and November, tackled nuisance behaviour reported by worried residents in the town centre, harbour, and local neighbourhoods.
Police Patrols Lead to Drug Busts and Vehicle Seizures
- On 21 October, officers canvassed residential areas for intelligence on criminal activity.
- The same day, a man was caught in Clements Road carrying amphetamine and cannabis, which remain under investigation.
- One vehicle was seized for being uninsured during routine stops.
Targeted Raids Result in Multiple Arrests
- 17 November: A 42-year-old Ramsgate man was arrested after damaging a vehicle. He’s now out on bail as enquiries continue.
- Following a spike in shoplifting, Robert Muttock, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with five counts of theft. He pleaded guilty at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and received a 12-month community order plus compensation fines.
- 18 November: PCSOs seized an uninsured moped abandoned in Hardres Street.
- 19 November: A 22-year-old man from Margate and an 18-year-old woman from Ramsgate were nabbed on suspicion of drug supply after officers seized cannabis, phones, and scales from a car in Cavendish Street. Both are on bail.
- An uninsured e-scooter was also confiscated after being spotted in King Street.
Police Stay on the Hunt to Keep Ramsgate Safe
“The work over these four days not only led to arrests but helped gather intel on drug dealers and troublemakers,” said Sergeant Paul Robson of the Thanet Community Safety Unit.
“This info is crucial for future warrants and disrupting crime to keep Ramsgate safe.”
“We’ll keep patrolling in uniform and plain clothes during the winter to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.”
“We urge residents to report anything suspicious. Your tips help us build strong cases against offenders.”
