Dog Rescued from Blazing Hot Van in Swindon – Owner Warned by Police
A distressed dog was rushed to the vet after being found trapped in a sweltering van in Swindon town centre today. Police were called to Commercial Road just before midday following reports that a dog looked ‘distressed’ inside a vehicle parked on the pavement.
Quick-Thinking Officers Free Dog Without Damage
The van’s window was slightly open, allowing officers to rescue the overheated pooch without smashing any glass. The dog was immediately taken to the vets for a check-up and later returned safely to its owner.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said the owner received a stern warning about leaving dogs unattended in hot vehicles.

Moments after the Swindon rescue, police got another concern about a dog “panting heavily” in a van parked at Malmesbury Primary Care Centre. However, the vehicle sped off before officers arrived.

Police have reminded pet owners of the dangers of leaving dogs inside vehicles during warm weather. “Cars can heat up like ovens in no time, even if it doesn’t feel too hot outside,” said a spokesperson.
