Birmingham Stabbing Spree: One Dead, Seven Injured – Police Hunt Man in Footage
Detectives have released CCTV footage of a man they urgently want to question following a horrific stabbing rampage in Birmingham city centre in the early hours. The attack left one man dead and seven others wounded across multiple locations.
Fatal Attack on Irving Street
A 23-year-old man tragically died after suffering fatal injuries on Irving Street. Two others were seriously hurt – a 19-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman both in critical condition. Five additional victims, aged between 23 and 33, sustained lesser injuries. Hospitals have treated the victims, with two now discharged.
Four Crime Scenes and Non-Stop Forensics
Police swarmed Birmingham city centre, establishing four separate crime scenes early this morning. The first emergency call came just after 12:30am from Constitution Hill, reporting a man with a superficial wound. Twenty minutes later, Livery Street became another crime hotspot after a 19-year-old man was critically injured along with a woman.
At 1:50am, officers rushed to Irving Street, where the fatal stabbing occurred. Just ten minutes later, Hurst Street saw a 32-year-old woman seriously hurt alongside two men with minor injuries.
Police Appeal: Help Catch the Mystery Man
Chief Superintendent Steve Graham said: “We do not underestimate the impact these incidents have had on Birmingham today. We declared a major incident early and deployed scores of officers to investigate and patrol, reassuring the public we are doing all we can to catch the person responsible.”
“We have reviewed CCTV and spoken to witnesses to release the clearest footage of the man we want to speak to. We believe the attacks were random, with no known motive so far. People must stay vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour immediately.”
“If you recognise the man in the footage, please contact us urgently. Do not approach him, call 999 straight away.”
