Thanks to a crucial tip-off, Birmingham police have swooped on a vehicle in Selly Oak, seizing two firearms and ammunition. The daring operation on August 9th saw cops stop a car on Dawlish Road and find a loaded pistol inside. A follow-up raid uncovered a sawn-off shotgun at a nearby address.
Four Faces Charges Over Firearms
Four suspects were hauled in and charged following the weapons find. Among them are 24-year-old Furrukh Khan, a Birmingham local, and 23-year-old Ishmael Kaseba. Two teenagers, both 17, were also charged with firearms offences. The men were locked up after appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court on August 11th, with a next hearing set for September 8th. The teens were bailed under strict conditions.
Part of Wider Crime Crackdown Under Operation Target
This seizure is a key victory for Operation Target, a crackdown tackling drug dealing, burglary, cybercrime, fraud, and more across the city. Police say the move highlights their relentless drive to keep Birmingham’s streets safe from serious and organised crime.
