Armed cops swooped after a gun was spotted in Radford’s Churchfield Lane on Tuesday afternoon.
Armed Police Descend on Churchyard Bench
At around 3.50pm on 6 December, officers received reports of a gun sighting. Armed units quickly arrived and found two men chilling on a bench in the church grounds.
Imitation Guns and Class A Drugs Busted
A search revealed two imitation handguns and an air rifle. One of the suspects, aged 29, was also caught with a haul of suspected Class A drugs. Both men, aged 29 and 38, were arrested for possession of imitation firearms in public. The younger suspect faces extra charges for drug possession.
Police Issue Stark Warning
Inspector Andrew Hallam said: “We will never hesitate to take immediate action should we receive reports of a suspected firearm. Imitation guns often look very real, so it’s vital we respond robustly to all such reports.”
“This incident should warn anyone thinking of carrying a fake gun that they’ll end up in serious trouble.”
“We’ve made arrests but inquiries continue. Anyone with info should get in touch immediately.”
